Our ickle vintage fashion boutique is celebrating our first anniversary of trading, and would like to invite all you lovely locals to our Mad Hatters Tea Party!
As many of our regular customers and followers will know, part of what we do here at ‘What Alice Found’ is help promote local talent, creativity and a passion for fashion. So when Canadian fashion designer Kimberly Legler moved to Bournemouth two months ago – and came to us with her collection of unique designs we didn’t hesitate to stock her work to see how they got on in store.
We sold one of her items within two hours. Nuff’ said.
These dresses from her original label MISS KIMI are inspired by a combination of the 1960′s and the ocean, resulting in a beautiful and modernistic mix that really catch your eye. The designs we currently have in store are in UK sizes 6 – 8, but act as an example of the bespoke dresses Kimberly can produce for customers. Just ask at the till for more details!
Kimberly also designs fashion accessories, with these lovely hand painted make up bags and a hand stitched rose purse.
So next time you’re in store – please do seek out her lovely designs. You can also follow Kimberly’s thought-provoking Polaroid posts on her tumblr ‘The Blank Canvas‘

Dear customers, locals, musicians and magical folk,
For the next year in our shop we have decided to scrap our very-expensive-for-tiny-shops music license, and instead we thought we’d much rather our customers shopped to the sounds of local music and talent, rather than Adele, Florence or the radio saturated with annoying adverts.
Without a license, we are still allowed to legally play ANY music in our boutique by unsigned artists – and we LOVE the idea of helping promote local singers, songwriters and DJ’s. If your music has a distinctly ‘vintage’ feel to it – even better!
So, we’d like to invite any singers, bands or solo musicians to bring in their music for us to play in store, should you wish to. Maybe its a side line, a hobby or a passion but we’d love to hear your music if you’re happy to share it with our customers.
We hope to build a catalogue of local talent, so when our shoppers hear your music and ask us ‘who’s that playing?’… VOILA! We can show them your cd, point them to your website and promote the musical talent on our doorstep – which is What Alice Found is all about.
Here’s the only rules:
* No swear words please
* No cover songs (Technically you still need to pay the original artist)
* Either yourself or ANY member of your band cannot be a member of PRS
* No hardcore or innappropriate lyrics, heavy drum n bass etc. We are a vintage fashion shop with customers from 12 – 80 years old so it does need to suit our set up!
* If you are a DJ, any samples used must either be over 50 years old or not copyrighted.
Feel free to bring in a few demo cd’s, posters or flyers which we can store and put up when we play your album / tracks in the shop.
Any questions, drop us an email at info@whatalicefound.co.uk or call us on 01202 929531
Oh…and please tell your friends!

We will be announcing the big 1st party we have planned next week, so stay tuned for more details on what to expect for the next year ahead from us.

With Mother’s day fast approaching, our current window display is packed with mummy-esque goodies. We’ve paid homage to four different ‘stereotypes’ of mum for a bit of fun…
(From Left – right) Chic mum – a 1940′s suit, matching shoes and handbag, glamorous mum, a designer 1960′s maxi dress and black corset bra, Domestic Goddess mum, 50′s style floral dress, vintage apron and lots of pink accessories and lastly boho mum, a 1970′s maxi dress and gogo boots with plenty of flowers.
In store are lots of unique, one off gift ideas for Mothers – they all deserve a treat, and in a vintage wonderland like ours it’s nice to find something very different.
You can also buy over 85 of these Mothers Day gift ideas from The Cherry Closet website if you live further afield, or why not book in a personal vintage shopping session for mum at the shop? See our services page for more details…
