Every dress has a destiny….

The peppermint princess

Now don’t get us wrong – we don’t tell our customers in a yoda – esque voice that “you don’t find the perfect dress, but the dress will find you – the perfect owner…” but we do think when you slip into a one off vintage garment you can sometimes feel it was ‘meant to be’.

(Yes, really!)

So we were delighted when customer Melissa  walked out of the changing room in the much sought after ‘peppermint princess’ 1950′s handmade netted number.

This particular dress had been displayed in the window and tried on by a handful of lovely ladies. Being a bespoke handmade dress it had specific measurements for its previous owner and had yet to find the perfect fit for its reincarnation!

The new owner

Doesn’t she look fab!?

As the dress was such a popular item in the store – we have a few exciting developments in the pipeline, in which we hope to create customers favourite dress patterns customized to any shape and size in vintage fabrics. We will update you with news on these plans when we can!

“Women want individuality, not mass production, and that’s what vintage clothing gives them. Wearing vintage suggests originality and flair. I mean, a woman can buy an evening dress on High Street for two hundred pounds and the next day it’s worth almost nothing. But for the same money she could have bought something made of gorgeous fabric, that no one else would have been wearing and that will actually increase in value.”

‘What Alice Found’ invited friends, family and press to a sneak preview of our new boutique on Friday night after a crazy and intense fortnight of preparation!

The Place

Situated in the buzzing bohemian end of Boscombe, Bournemouth, our brand spanking new art and vintage fashion collaboration boutique was proud to unveil our debut Alice in Wonderland vintage inspired window display to guests. By 9pm our Georgian shop front was all steamed up from the jam-packed party goers and atmosphere!

The Party

With Billie Holiday crooning quietly in the background, guests were invited to peruse the vintage treasures and original artworks whilst sipping champers and tucking into the delightfully designed Alice themed miniature cupcakes from the fabulous local company C’s cupcakes.
